If a picture could stop a senseless war

I couldn't bear to republish this picture here, so please go to the thinking blog to view it. All I can say is that every parent will remember when their child's feet were that small. Is the war really worth it?

{ really are getting more political.}

But let's not forget that war never makes fact, violence rarely ever does. (except when it comes to the lowest level survival) But being human we are often drawn into it...normally by other humans who are as imperfect as ourselves.

Of course...I remember the Star Trek episode where a particular inter-planatary war was fought via computer simulation and people then dutifully marched into death rooms in numbers that the simulations described. (actual was was so was easier this way)

I remember the lesson of that episode was when wars were "sanitized" to the point that the very pain and suffering of the war is removed, we lose our ability to see how horrible it is. The pain and horror is required to remind us of not to do it.....and there you have it, your photo....another reminder.

I predict that future humans will continue to be as nearsighted and flawed for many centuries to come. We humans believe we are evolving, learning...getting smarter and more advanced... but I don't see it.

I don't consider that statement pessimistic at all....we are after all just one of the animals residing on this big orb we call earth....the size of our brains not withstanding....we humans are just as simple and primative when compared to the size and complexity of the ecosystem as a whole.

I for one am not worried that we will destroy the earth...I think the earth will chew us up and spit us out before that happens.(of course, I don't suppose we would not be too happy about that.)

I suppose the more things change, the more they stay the same.
