Overheard on Halloween

Fresh Barbie
Dova was definitely Barbie with an attitude this Halloween. We spent the whole night coaching the kids to say "trick or treat" and "thank you", loud and clear, immediately after receiving the candy, while looking at the person. We had a lot of mumbled thank you's and "turning around and running away" thank you's, but by the end of the night, they had it down. But Dova had no problem saying these gems loud and clear in definite earshot of others.
  • While we passed another guy walking by with his dog, she announced "I tooted!".  Oh, how nice of you to share.
  • After leaving a house, she said, "That's almost an old lady!".  *horrified*  That's not nice, you can't say that!
  • Before approaching a house, I mentioned that I thought there was a Chinese family that lived there because a Chinese guy answered the door last year.  A Caucasian woman answered the door this time.  As we were leaving, Dova said, "No one speaks Chinese at that house!"  *mortified*  What do you say to that one?  I outta keep my trap shut.  Hello Dova!  No one speaks Chinese at our house either!
