One Post to Wax Political

I am not one to discuss politics on the blog, but this quiz was too good to pass up. Although I almost overwhelmingly agree on issues with Hillary Clinton, it takes more to get my vote and lead a country than aligned views. Great leadership is not about having the same views, it is about trust, integrity and inspiration. Risa Green from Mommy Track'd sums it up perfectly in this article, I Want To Love Hillary, although she got heavily flamed for it. Hillary doesn't inspire passion, she is all business, to the point of appearing cold-hearted. But as a woman, I feel the gender obligation to propel her forward. Let's face it, when it comes down to the average American who gets sucked in by negative campaigning and false emails, presidential elections are just a personality contest. I will cast my vote on the candidate who aligns with (most) of my views and who I feel can best lead and inspire the country.

If you want to know how the candidates stack up on issues and issues alone, check out the quiz (thanks Quentin for the link). Here are the gory details of my results:

Politics are hard, my results http://www.wqad.com/Global/link.asp?L=259460 are almost upside down version of yours.

Interesting!

I actually like that Hillary is business-like. It frustrates me, this popularity contest aspect...this need to feel attracted to the candidate. Possibly because that is why we have had the last nearly 8 years that we have (which in my mind haven't been terribly good ones and aren't ending on a good note, either).

My Clinton and Obama are only one point apart. 34/33. But I'm still really undecided. After seeing the debate last night, I'm tempted to throw both of them into time out for their behavior!

I used to be very active in politics way back in the days of Ross Perot. (but this "grassroots" stuff that Perot talked about)

I have actually found that MANY of the people on what is commonly called the "right" and "left" actually have very similar conserns but different approaches to the solutions.

The parties will more often than not use the issues to "separate people" and then use particular candidates to "herd" people into one camp or another.

I think candidates like Alan Keyes, Pat Buchannan and perhaps Jesse Jackson are used in this herding process. (I didn't mean to pick two back people as examples...it's not a race thing since Keyes pulls in the religious for example)

The Perot third party run brought both parties out swinging....but against Perot!

The odd thing was that there were people like Dick Ghephart, Pat Buchannan and others in say labor unions and various right wing causes that supported the same position....and agreed with each other and Perot....all of them would stand up and speak, but would NEVER get on the same stage or even at the same event. (never mind with Perot, but with each other)

It was a huge awakening to me....the parties are out for one thing....themselves. Issues,solutions and even voters be dammed. {such is life....}
