I've never committed to making New Year's resolutions and here's why.
- Better to have your long term and short term goals in the forefront of your mind everyday instead of once a year (I have been properly brainwashed by the Franklin system and Steven Covey).
- Reflection and re-examination of your goals should happen more than once a year, although once a year is a start.
- New Years Resolutions rarely work if they aren't already part of your mindset or lifestyle.
- If you really meant to do something, you wouldn't need a resolution to kick start you.
- Why wait until January 1st? Every day can be a new start.
- Change isn't something that magically happens, it requires real commitment, not an arbitrary change in date.
- Why set yourself up for disappointment when you fail to keep your resolutions?
- When people fail to keep a resolution they sometimes use it as an excuse not to try again.
- If it is a true goal in your life, failure rarely stops you (or at least me... tenacity is my middle name).
- I'm far from perfect, but this seems to work for me!
- By the way, I hate that the gym is always overcrowded in January.
- OK OK, maybe resolutions aren't so bad if you aren't a total control freak like I am!
- That being said, don't worry about resolutions, just have a Happy New Year!

As far as #6 goes, change can magically happen if the change in date is deliberate. That's my story and i'm sticking to it.
Great list and I do agree with continual self examination and adjustment.
My Thursday 13 #63 is up early. It is 13 Celebrity Births in 2007 kind of the opposite of last week's post. Stop by if you ge a chance.
I agree!

I have made a list (not for T13) of resolutions I resolve not to make, including all the usual suspects. I am going to see if focusing on doing things I love will make this a worse or a better year!
I agree. I made some anti-resolutions earlier this week.
I never make resolutions. That way I don't have to feel bad about not keeping them!
Mine are "realizations". Things that need to change not want to change.
On that note, it's time to get off the computer and get into the gym!
I think we just need the resolve to do a little better than yesterday and we will be doing well
