Karmyn at Dreaming What If's... posted a hysterical list of proverbs finished by her first grade son. This was based on Desert Songbird's list from other first graders at The Ice Box. Since we have a first grader handy, I thought we'd give it a shot as well. In the beginning, Adam did about five half-heartedly with nonsensical answers and then he didn't want to do it. I told him that it was for the blog and then he instantly perked up and came up with these gems. Just for the fame! We've even added extra bonus proverbs from the image. Check out other kid's proverbs too!
1. Don't change horses... with a bad guy
2. Strike while the... baseball flies
3. It's always darkest before... night (bzzt!)
4. Never underestimate the power of... electricity
5. You can lead a horse to water but... not fish
6. Don't bite the hand that... punches
7. No news is... trouble
8. A miss is as good as a ... sir
9. You can't teach an old dog new... tricks (he knew one!)
10. If you lie down with the dogs, you'll... fall asleep
11. Love all, trust... each other
12. The pen is mightier than the... pencil
13. An idle mind is... bored
14. Where's there's smoke there's... cigarettes
15. Happy the bride who... is a princess (by Dova)
16. A penny saved is... one cent (so very true!)
17. Two's company, three's... four (by Dova)
18. Don't put off till tomorrow what... matters
19. Laugh and the whole world laughs with you, cry and... sing (huh?)
20. There are none so blind as... a light bulb
21. Children should be seen and not... tortured
22. If at first you don't succeed... then you're dead (perfectionism at its best)
23. You get out of something only what you... do
24. When the blind lead the blind... he does nothing
25. A bird in the hand... hurts
27. An apple a day... is rotten
29. A stitch in time saves... time
30. Where there's a will, there's... trouble (you better believe it with him!)

I am amazed at how each kid has taken some of them so literally - AND that they assume the "miss" is female! ha ha ha
I love his answers! I'm really getting a kick out of reading all of these today! I agree with Karmyn it's funny to see how the kids take so many of them so literally.
