Nintendo DS Lite contest

We've totally have been sucked into the Nintendo cult, so I jumped at the chance for this contest. Bob over at BobmeetsWorld.com is giving away a free Nintendo DS Lite with a few games because it’s his birthday in May. While you’re there, check out some great posts about generating traffic. And don’t forget to wish him a happy birthday :D. Happy Birthday Bob!!

Now I can keep up with Adam on his Gameboy. I have the feeling that his current pink hand-me-down Gameboy will be mine and he will get the DS. Better yet in a couple years the Gameboy will be Dova's and I'll be searching for another DS contest!

I love GIANTmicrobes!

Ever since I saw these at my sister-in-law's house I fell in love with them! And then for the holidays I received a bed bug and it's been the most coveted of my stuffed animals by the kids. I was thrilled to see that they had an affiliate program so I could put these cuties right in my sidebar. Go buy some for your favorite hypochondriac or germ-obsessed friends. (No, I'm not getting sponsored for this post... I just love them!).

Political coincidence on the Wii

IMG_6320
Take a look at this map. Does the color distribution of the states look vaguely familiar? Somewhat similar the blue state / red state election results below?

2004 Presidential results

2006 Congressional results

We regularly visit the Everbody Votes channel on the Wii where they put up opinion polls which you answer and you can view the results about a week later. It's also good way to get Adam to read. So the magic question which resulted in the politically divided map was:
Do you wear perfume / cologne?
Where 'yes' got pink and 'no' got green. So I guess all those redneck (I mean conservative) states are all doused in perfume as well! I love to make funny generalizations about political preference and totally unrelated attributes, but this one takes the cake!

The Friday Five - May 4, 2007

Here I go for another meme (although Wordless Wednesday claims it's not a meme).

My life would not be the same without this...

1. song/movie/book:
song: "Barefoot" by Bob Telson, sung by k.d. lang. Through the magic of the internet, I found this video of the song with footage from the movie Salmonberries where I first heard it.

book:

movie:

How corny! I actually have two copies of it, a VHS with the full screenplay and a DVD with a mini leather jacket that wraps around it.

2. person:
Doug of course, my life and family would not exist without him! And my mom, I wouldn't be here otherwise.

3. place: Home. I'll add Tanglewood and Disney World too.

4. event: MIT, going to China, having babies, too many to name.

5. self indulgence:
Blogging! OK, chocolate too, but that's more of a necessity.

Go visit the original post here.

Cool Video plug-in

Check out the new video "page element" on the left which shows my latest videos as served up by the Google search of my username "moonfever0". When you click on a thumbnail, the video will play at the top of the posts. I didn't figure this out at first because I had it too far down the page (could hear the audio but didn't see the video). It will be interesting to see what happens or doesn't happen with these blocked video sites at work. Of course, check out all my videos on YouTube. I also have a bunch on Google Video as well, but apparently they failed to make it a social site, so it's impossible to get a page of just my videos without logging into my account. Do you hear that Google? Yes, I know you're just working on the integration with YouTube right now... Thankfully, most are embedded to the blog, so you can see them under the video label.

8:58 AM update - four ugly black boxes at work and nothing happens when I click on them. Such is corporate life!

5/10/07 update - There was just not enough control over what came up under the search and it took too much room, so I opted for this static badge of my most recent videos instead.
